Josh Wurman, President of the Center for Severe Weather Research, and his crew were in Watertown Sunday afternoon as the threat of severe weather moved into the area. Wurman said they have a project this spring called “Rotate” and they are observing the lowest levels of tornados and hope to gather information of wind speed and damage.
Several vehicles are part of the convoy including trucks with radars,
and pickup trucks with “tornado pods”. Wurman said they hope a tornado
would pick up the pods and gather information about the storm. Information
gathered will be used in the future and how to predict storms and the
damage they can cause.
